How Solu handles information in the Mac app and on this website.
Who is responsible
Solu is provided by MAO Tech OÜ, Sepapaja tn 6, 15551 Tallinn, Estonia. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].
On your Mac
Solu runs its breathing animation on your Mac. Your rhythm, visual and sound preferences, Unlimited Session history, downloaded sounds and local purchase status are stored on your device. Solu does not need access to your screen contents, microphone or camera to guide your breathing. You do not need a Solu account.
Apple iCloud handles settings synchronization when enabled. Apple also processes purchases, subscriptions and restores through StoreKit. Solu uses verified purchase and entitlement information to provide access; we do not receive your payment card details. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Anonymous app usage counts
Anonymous usage counts are on by default. You can turn them off in Solu’s Preferences. Turning them off stops new uploads and clears pending usage counts.
Counts are sent to PostHog’s EU service to understand aggregate feature use and verified purchase events. They include the app version, plan and, when available, App Store country. Events have individual identifiers for processing retries, but no persistent user or device identifier and no account profile. Feedback messages, email addresses and Apple transaction identifiers are not included.
IP addresses are not stored in these analytics records, and GeoIP enrichment is disabled. Servers still receive the source IP needed to handle a network connection. These app usage counts are separate from website analytics described below.
Feedback and support
When you send feedback, we receive your message, category, app and macOS versions, language, and a request identifier that prevents duplicate submissions. An email address is optional except in the Team category, where it is required so we can reply. We use this information to respond, investigate issues and improve Solu. A local copy and pending submissions may remain on your Mac.
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the content and attachments you choose to send. You can reach product support at [email protected].
Network services
Solu requests app configuration and community updates from our API. TimeAPI.io provides the online UTC time check used for Unlimited Sessions, with utctime.app as a backup in app versions that support it. These requests contain no Solu account, persistent device identifier or device clock value. The providers receive the IP address and network information needed for the HTTPS connection.
The sound catalog and downloadable sound files are hosted on DigitalOcean Spaces in Frankfurt. The app requests the catalog and downloads selected files when you choose to download them. Downloaded audio then plays locally.
Cloudflare hosts the website, DigitalOcean hosts our API and sound delivery, PostHog EU processes app usage counts, Resend sends launch confirmation and notification emails, and Apple provides StoreKit purchases and iCloud settings sync. Network providers receive connection information needed to deliver their services, including an IP address. Their operational logs are distinct from Solu’s anonymous analytics records.
Website analytics: PostHog
We use PostHog’s EU service to count page visits independently of the Google Analytics cookie choice. It runs in page memory, sets no analytics cookies, and retains no analytics data in local storage or session storage. A temporary identifier lasts only for the current page load; we do not use it to recognize you on a later visit.
We send the page path, basic browser and device type, and a website source label. URL query strings and fragments, referring URLs, form contents and email addresses are excluded. Person profiles, session recording and automatic interaction capture are disabled. IP addresses are not stored in these analytics records, and GeoIP enrichment is disabled. PostHog still receives the connection information needed to process an HTTPS request.
Website analytics: Google Analytics
The landing page loads Google Analytics only after you choose “Allow analytics”. Until then, or if you choose “No thanks”, no Google Analytics script or measurement request is sent. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes information such as page visits, browser and device information, and interactions. The email confirmation page loads neither analytics service. You can change or withdraw your choice through Cookie settings in the footer. Withdrawing stops website analytics and removes its first-party cookies from this site. We remember your choice in your browser for up to 180 days. This choice is separate from anonymous app usage counts in Preferences. Google describes its processing in How Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services.
Launch notifications
If you request a launch notification, our API stores your email address and request time. You must confirm your email before it joins the list. We use the list for one Solu launch notification, not a newsletter or advertising. Resend delivers the confirmation and launch emails.
Confirmation links expire after 24 hours. Request and confirmation times record your choice. Short-lived keyed hashes support abuse prevention; the signup feature does not store raw IP addresses. To withdraw your request or ask for deletion, email [email protected].
Retention
Our feedback service is configured to delete live feedback database records after 90 days. The launch notification service is configured to remove unconfirmed signups after seven days and confirmed signups after one year at the latest; abuse-prevention hashes expire within 24 hours.
These limits apply to the specified live database records. They do not establish the retention period for support correspondence, provider logs, backups or analytics records, and are not a guarantee that every copy is deleted on the same date. Contact us for questions about retention or deletion of your information.
How information is used
We use information to provide requested features, manage access, deliver requested messages, answer support requests and improve Solu. We do not sell personal information or use anonymous app usage counts to create advertising profiles.
Your choices and rights
You can use Solu without an account, switch off app usage counts in Preferences, choose whether to send feedback, and request removal from the launch list. To request access, correction or deletion of information you have sent us, contact [email protected].
Depending on your location, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. You may complain to your local data protection authority. In Estonia, this is the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate.
Changes
We will update this page when Solu’s data handling changes and show the revision date above.
